The Assessment of Daily Menus in Nursing Home Residents for Improving Intake and Nutritional Status in Elderly

Background: Malnutrition has impacted the health condition and life quality of elderly who live in nursing homes. Unmaximized menu planning can cause this condition. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze nutrition content provided by home based on recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for older people identify current status Methods: The food intakes were evaluated observing all menus during five days. Nutrient contents analyzed calculating meal comparing them elderly. Body weight was measured using Bio Impedance Analysis (BIA) Tanita, a stadiometer body height. Furthermore, high mass index calculation measure nutritional status. Results: It found that mean energy 1242.6 ± 193.9 kcal/day, only 69.03 10.7% fulfilled recommendation. For protein content, it met 70.5% RDA. Macronutrients such as are needs From BMI analysis, 26.23 % undernutrition.
